Frame Theories is built around a simple idea: cinema deserves more than a score and a plot summary. We want criticism with a point of view, essays with a pulse, and writing that makes someone want to watch a film differently.
The Writers Club is our growing circle of contributors — emerging writers, seasoned critics and curious film obsessives who want a place to develop their voice and put it in front of an audience.
You don't need a journalism degree. You need curiosity, a perspective, and the willingness to put that perspective into words.
02 / What you can write
Essays.
Long-form ideas about cinema, culture, performances, genres, filmmakers and the strange things movies make us think about.
Voices.
Personal pieces, lists, observations and unconventional takes. If it starts with “I've been thinking about…”, we want to hear it.
03 / The philosophy
We'd rather read a
strong voice than
a perfect sentence.
Your writing doesn't have to sound like everybody else's. In fact, we'd prefer if it didn't. We care about clear thinking, honest reactions, original observations and the little details that reveal why a film stays with you.
